A crowd of more than 100 people gathered beneath a canopy in a lot above Summit Pacific Medical Center at the site of the wellness center for the groundbreaking ceremony.
Summit Pacific employees along with administration, representative from the United States Department of Agriculture, staff from the City of Elma, county officials and community members gathered to celebrate the occasion.
Speakers included Commissioner and Board Chair Drew Hooper, USDA State Director Peter McMillin, Chris Bandoli, senior vice president of the Washington State Hospital Association, Dru Garson of Greater Grays Harbor Inc., Brent Meldrum, foundation and capital campaign representative and Summit Pacific CEO Josh Martin.
Martin noted that the wellness center is part of an overall plan for the hospital district, “Thanks to the generous and ongoing support of our partners and to all of you, we are moving forward toward building the healthiest community in the nation,” Martin said. “As you’ve heard from everyone today, this facility will be a hub not only for achieving health and wellness, but also economic development and stability and it will be an important resource for many generations to come.”
