The purpose of Grays Harbor County Consortium is to influence healthy behaviors with supportive resources and tools, that will lead to a decrease in substance and opioid use disorders. Successful and sustainable implementation of these efforts is through continued and expanded membership that addresses chronic disease and social determinates of health for a holistic approach in the recovery process for those with OUD/SUD.
The Grays Harbor Opioid Response Consortium led by Summit Pacific Medical Center received funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Rural Communities Opioid Response – Implementation Grant. The purpose of this funding is to strengthen and expand SUD/OUD prevention, treatment, and recovery services in Grays Harbor County.
Grays Harbor County Population 73,000 approximately 7,800 residents are receiving Consortium support in managing their SUD/OUD.
• Poor health ranking of 37 out of 39 (per county health rankings).
• Deaths from Overdose and or Substance Use Disorder average 15 every year( per WA State Department of Health).
• 2018 Healthy Youth Survey reports 3% of students grade 8th – 12th have tried heroin at least once in their lifetime and even more use pain killers
to get high in any given month.
