Our Doctors of Internal Medicine have knowledge in a broad and comprehensive spectrum of illnesses and are recognized as experts in diagnosis, in treatment of chronic illness and in health promotion and disease prevention.
The internal medicine services are for in-paneled patients of Elma Family Medicine, McCleary Healthcare Clinic and Summit Pacific Healthcare Clinic. Patients who have been diagnosed with co-morbidities such as diabetes, CHF, COPD, Hepatitis C can be referred for consult and treatment with an internal medicine physician.

Laurie Belknap, DO, MS, MedL
As an Ohio native, Dr. Belknap spent most of her life in and around Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio where she received a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine.
As an associate professor of Biomedical Education and Anatomy at the Ohio State University, Dr. Belknap gained experience and expertise in medical education, clinical teaching and graduate medical education administration.
Dr. Belknap specializes in family medicine with an interest in healthcare for women and children. Having grown up on a farm, she also holds a passion for providing broad based family medicine in rural communities. She and her family are excited about their recent move to western Washington and are enjoying the many activities in the area.
Samuel Engemann, DO
Dr. Engemann is originally from St. Louis Missouri. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia. He is proud to have graduated from the original Osteopathic medical school, the A.T. Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri.
He completed an internal medicine residency at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. In his current role, Dr. Engemann practices osteopathic manipulation in addition to general outpatient and inpatient internal medicine. He is currently focusing on diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. He loves the challenge and enjoys the connection of caring for our rural population here in Elma. He cares for adults of all walks of life whose care needs range from routine screening to coordination and management of rare and complicated diseases.
He is wound care certified and has completed additional training in cranial osteopathic treatments. He is passionate about improving the lives of patients with heart failure, metabolic syndrome, chronic pain, substance abuse and the geriatric population.
Dr. Engemann moved to Washington State to be closer to his family who reside in both Portland and Seattle. When he is not in the clinic, you can find Dr. Engemann by the water or spending time out in the woods.
