Summit Pacific Medical Center is excited to announce the Saving Lives Campaign to raise $3 million in support of expanded hospital and emergency department services.
Many individuals and businesses, including partners at the Kelsey Foundation, Murphy Company, Sierra Pacific Industries, Our Community Credit Union, and Timberland Bank have launched the campaign with lead gift commitments totaling $2 million.
“This is huge!” says Josh Martin, CEO at Summit Pacific Medical Center. “It’s incredible that our community has so many individual donors, business leaders, organizations and an entire forest product industry willing to support life-saving services in Grays Harbor County”.
According to Dr. Mimi Syed, Senior Medical Director of Emergency and Acute Care Services, this campaign will support the expansion project that is currently under construction to add new acute care rooms, trauma rooms, therapy rooms, a new MRI machine, and a new patient monitoring system, as well as expanded specialty services. “It’s exciting to offer more of the services our community needs,” says Dr. Syed, who has made her own campaign pledge and is championing the employees and other providers to take up the challenge and help “lead the way” to raise the final one million dollars needed to complete the project.
“We’ve seen how incredibly generous our community is,” says Brad Thomas, Executive Director of the Summit Pacific Medical Foundation. “I feel confident that as word gets out about our campaign, more businesses, community members and dedicated families will recognize the importance of what we’re trying to do for our community and join us in helping to Save Lives.”

The Saving Lives Campaign has drawn support from multiple industries, including several businesses in the forest products industry. Murphy Company, Sierra Pacific Industries, and Port Blakely were some of the earliest contributors to the campaign.
“I think the wood products industry as a whole has demonstrated an amazing commitment to health and wellness,” says Brad Thomas, Foundation Executive Director at Summit. “None of this would be possible without their investment. We’ve seen such a positive collective response, not only from businesses but also from passionate families, individuals and groups.”
“My husband, Lee, and I are lifelong Grays Harbor residents. We grew up in the Elma area where both of our families lived before us, and we have lived on acreage near the Chehalis River for over fifty years. Now that we are older, we feel so blessed to have a healthcare facility so close to us, and it is exciting to know they are there to take care of our healthcare needs.
Sometimes as I enter the parking lot, I look up and think, ‘What if this wasn’t here? Where would I go? What would I do?’
Another great thing about Summit Pacific is that they are helping to grow our community by being involved with childcare, housing, and youth activities. It is a great investment, and we are so happy to be involved with Summit.”
