About Mandy Achterman
Dr. Achterman is a native of the Northwest, born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Following high school, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She holds a master’s in Public Health International with an emphasis in maternal-infant health and community education along with a doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences. She is fluent in Spanish and specializes in the full spectrum of family medicine, as she puts it, “cradle to the grave” including deliveries and newborn care through geriatrics. She also performs OMT (Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy).
Dr. Achterman is thankful to be living close to home and enjoys spending time with her family and her two pug/Chihuahua/terrier puppies. She was a competitive swimmer through the university level and enjoys cycling. Dr. Achterman has completed the 200-mile STP five times, twice in one day and once on a tandem bike.

I would like everyone to enjoy the quality of a great physician like Dr. Achterman, as I have had her for 8+ years. This is impossible, so, I really think using her as a standard for physicians staffing is an excellent idea. But definitely would not change doctors, as I have developed a great understanding about my conditions and a great rapport with Dr. Achterman. Thank you, Rix.
My time with Doctors over my lifetime has included many primary care physicians. Only one other doctor I had in my youth and early adulthood came close to the care provided by Dr. Amanda Achterman, DO. Seriously, none have come close to the level of care and compassion as well as respect for my health needs. I have had no restrictions on discussing my health challenges and issues. She has given me critical advice and recommended relevant resources to improve my life.
Always have had good experiences with her. Easy to talk to, friendly, treats me extremely well.
Not sure Dr Achterman has any openings but I recommend Summit to all my friends in Ocean Shores. Well worth the drive.
