Bisher Abdullah, MD, brings to Summit Pacific over twenty years of experience in pediatrics and gastroenterology. He joined our Outpatient Procedure Unit in 2023 as a physician specializing in Gastroenterology. Originally from Syria, Bisher graduated from Damascus University School of Medicine and later moved on to complete his residency in pediatrics at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio. He completed his fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition at the Riley Children’s Hospital in Indiana.

Dr. Achterman is a native of the Northwest, born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Following high school, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She holds a master’s in Public Health International with an emphasis in maternal-infant health and community education along with a doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences. She is fluent in Spanish and specializes in the full spectrum of family medicine, as she puts it, “cradle to the grave” including deliveries and newborn care through geriatrics. She also performs OMT (Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy).

Dr. Achterman is thankful to be living close to home and enjoys spending time with her family and her two pug/Chihuahua/terrier puppies. She was a competitive swimmer through the university level and enjoys cycling. Dr. Achterman has completed the 200-mile STP five times, twice in one day and once on a tandem bike.

Dr. Andrews was born and raised in rural Wahkiakum County before attending Seattle Pacific University. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1994. She then moved to Olympia, WA to begin her family medicine residency with the St. Peter Family Medicine Residency Program, graduating in 1997.

Dr. Andrews has been practicing family medicine and providing obstetrics in Elma since 1997. She has been adjunct faculty with St. Peter Family Medicine since 1997 and has also hosted Family Medicine residents and students for rotations in Elma throughout her time in Elma. Dr. Andrews enjoys all aspects of primary care, especially long-term continuity relationships with patients, treating the whole family and making care accessible to everyone, especially those who feel estranged from the healthcare system.

Outside of the office, Dr. Andrews enjoys time with family (including lots of animals), gardening, cooking, crafting, SCUBA diving, and jigsaw puzzles.

Laura Armstrong grew up in the small town of Socorro, New Mexico. She attended Rice University in Houston, Texas and attended medical school at UT Houston, now known as McGovern Medical School. After medical school, Laura completed her residency in Family Medicine at Memorial Residency Program in Sugar Land, Texas. Laura is passionate about family medicine and caring for her patients at every stage of life. She enjoys caring for newborns, their parents and grandparents all in the context of lifelong healthy living. Her interests include nutrition, mindfulness, lifestyle medicine and integrative medicine. Laura has held leadership roles in newborn care and has served as the medical director for the Nurse Health Line in Houston. She is board certified in Integrative Medicine and recently became a diplomate of the ACLM (American College of Lifestyle Medicine). She is passionate about physician education and physician wellness.

Laura is married with three children. She enjoys gardening, hiking, yoga, tai chi, making jewelry and enjoys most mediums of art including oil painting, quilting, alcohol ink art and epoxy art. She also likes to swim, dance and read science fiction in her spare time. Laura organized the community garden at her former workplace, and she is a certified yoga instructor.

Dr. Atabeygi grew up in Vancouver, BC, Canada. His medical education was obtained in Grenada, the United Kingdom and the United States. He received his doctorate from St. George’s University on the island of Grenada. He is passionate about finding solutions to medical concerns and finds enjoyment working with patients of all ages.

Before making the change to medicine, Dr. Atabeygi worked as a high school science and math teacher.

He has a deep love for rugby and played the game for over 20 years. When at home he enjoys his time with family and completing various woodworking projects.

Dr. Biggerstaff has been a veteran provider at SPMC since 2009. She received her master’s in nursing through the Frontier School of Nursing and Midwifery. She previously worked in oncology at St. Peters Hospital. She is board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. In her spare time, she enjoys surfing, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Bishop is an ambitious and dynamic physician specializing in emergency medicine. She graduated from the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine, and secured a coveted spot in the Emergency Medicine Residency program at Riverside Community Hospital.

Emergency medicine was a natural fit for Dr. Bishop, as she thrives under pressure and enjoys the challenges presented by each new case. She has honed her skills through her work with Western Washington Emergency Physicians and TeamHealth, where she provided diligent care to the communities of South Hill, Bonney Lake, Lakewood, Gig Harbor, Tacoma, and Enumclaw.

Dr. Bishop’s dedication to her profession extends beyond treating patients. She also served as the Resident Director of Career Development, organizing networking opportunities and career development activities for residents. Her tireless work ethic, compassionate approach to patient care, and commitment to professional development make her a dedicated and accomplished medical professional in the field of emergency medicine.

Lindsey Brightman, originally from Anacortes, is passionate about providing healthcare. Lindsey specializes in Family Medicine with an emphasis on mental health and adolescent and young adult healthcare.

She received her undergraduate degree at University of Washington Bothell and later attended graduate school at Pacific Lutheran University. Lindsey has worked in Summit Pacific’s Urgent Care and primary care clinics since 2018. Prior to her time at Summit Pacific, she cared for patients as a Registered Nurse for Providence in Everett.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two teenage children, who are currently attending Elma High School.

Laura prioritizes patient-centered care, focusing on collaboration and empowerment to guide her patients toward better health. She is board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. For the past two years, she has been practicing at a private clinic in Lacey, Washington, caring for patients of all ages.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys life on a farm with her husband and two daughters, relishing outdoor activities and beach outings.
