Dr. Michael Shannon is a board-certified endocrinologist with fellowship training in both endocrinology and geriatrics from the University of Washington. He cares for patients ages 13 and up, offering expert consultations, ongoing management, and thyroid biopsies, with a special interest in how environmental chemicals affect the endocrine system.

Originally from Massachusetts, Dr. Shannon earned his undergraduate degree from Rice University and his medical degree from UC San Diego. Since moving to Olympia in 2007, he has served Southwest Washington in clinical and leadership roles, including as Chief Medical Officer for PSW and MultiCare Connected Care.

He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, serves on the editorial board of Clinical Diabetes, and regularly speaks on endocrine and diabetes care. Outside of medicine, Dr. Shannon is an avid traveler and proud geography buff—having once placed 2nd in the National Geography Bee with a handshake and a check from Alex Trebek. He lives in Olympia with his partner, children, and several cats.
