Summit Pacific Medical Center Celebrates Expansion That Brings More Care Close to Home

July 22, 2026

News Release – July 22, 2026, 8:00 AM PT

ELMA, Wash. – Summit Pacific Medical Center today celebrates the completion of its hospital expansion, a $60 million investment that strengthens access to emergency, inpatient, diagnostic, rehabilitation, and specialty care for Grays Harbor County and surrounding communities.

The expansion includes approximately 30,000 square feet of new space and 8,000 square feet of renovated space to help Summit Pacific Medical Center meet growing patient demand and improve access to care. The project increases acute care capacity from 10 to 25 beds, including five observation beds, expands the Emergency Department from 10 to 16 treatment spaces, relocates the helipad, expands imaging services with 24/7 MRI availability and Nuclear Medicine, and adds dedicated Behavioral Health treatment areas. Additional design improvements enhance patient flow, safety, and flexibility throughout the hospital, creating a more efficient and patient-centered environment. The project was funded through bonds without increasing taxes and was made possible through the support of corporate partners, community members, donors, and healthcare supporters who invested in the future of local care.

“This expansion is an investment in the health and future of the communities we are privileged to serve,” said Summit Pacific CEO Josh Martin. “Every new space was thoughtfully designed to improve access, enhance the patient experience, and ensure families throughout our region can receive exceptional care close to home, and we are grateful for the support of our community and the dedication of our caregivers who make that possible every day.”

Designed around the needs of patients and families, every investment in the expansion improves access, privacy, capacity, and future readiness while helping more people receive exceptional healthcare close to home.

“This expansion was designed around the needs of our patients, families, and caregivers,” said
Tori Bernier, Chief Nursing Officer. “The additional space, private patient rooms, advanced technology, and improved care environments allow our providers and caregivers to provide more personalized and efficient care. Most importantly, these improvements help our caregivers spend more time focused on what matters most: delivering compassionate care to the people who trust us every day.”

The Expansion Celebration on July 22, 10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony, guided tours, and opportunities for the community and media to experience the new spaces.
