SUMMIT PACIFIC RECEIVES QUALITY-BASED ACCREDITATION FROM DNV

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

May 2, 2025

Mental health concerns are common and impact most Americans either directly or through a loved one. According to Johns Hopkins, approximately one in four of us suffers from a diagnosable mental health disorder in any given year, and more than half go untreated.

There are many different mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, substance use disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. It is essential to seek medical attention if you or someone you love has a concern about mental health, as treatments vary significantly based on the diagnosis and severity of the condition. In addition to medications and psychotherapy, here are some tips that can help.

  • Get involved in “purpose-positive” activities such as volunteering.
  • Utilize relaxation techniques such as deep breathing.
  • Get regular exercise.
  • Establish a pattern of activity and try to get outside every day.
  • Seek medical attention if you continue to be down or depressed or have other mental health concerns.
  • If you or someone you know is thinking about hurting themselves or someone else, including thinking about suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Line, 988.
