Joe grew up north of Hoquiam, where he attended and graduated from Hoquiam High School. After graduation, he took many odd jobs and worked mainly as a laborer and operating engineer until making the switch to Nursing in 2006. He has an Advanced Nursing Degree from Frontier Nursing University in Kentucky. His degree is in Family Practice, but his experience as a registered nurse is mostly in emergency. Most recently, he served as the clinical educator for SPMC.

His education and experience have prepared him to treat the entire family in acute/emergent situations as well as the chronically ill. He has always been beholden to the idea of providing care to the multigenerational family. His passion lies in providing high-quality care that incorporates educating the patient as a team, believing he can only provide the tools, knowledge, and insight; the patient needs to do the building.

Family is extremely important to him and is the driving force in his life. He is married to his lovely wife and together they have five children ranging from age 3 to 18. He loves sports and fitness and is an avid Seahawks and Husky fan. He loves that fitness is something he and his wife can strive to instill in their children. Healthy living is a goal he lives and practices.
